Day 2 (Remix) / by Donna Olivia Owusu-Ansah

I didn’t eat the cookies.

I didn’t eat the cookies.

Hallelujah, I didn’t eat the cookies.

You probably cannot see them, but there is a bag of mini chocolate chip cookies on the table in front of me. This afternoon I sat on a Conversation for Your Life panel hosted by Rossmoor Community Church on Advanced Care Planning. It was a wonderful experience personally and professionally.

When I sat down, I saw the cookies. The hosts made cookies and water available for all, a lovely gesture. Under normal circumstances, I would have eaten the cookies and even snagged a bag or two for the road.

But I didn’t. Instead I remembered the three miles that I walked with hubby in the morning. Instead I was keenly aware of the extremely tight shapewear that was holding things in so that I could be clergy chic in my collar and pink skirt. Instead I thought about my goals and the feeling I hope to have when I reach my goals.

I didn’t eat the cookies.

I didn’t eat the cookies.

Hallelujah, I didn’t eat the cookies.
